Awesome Impresionist Art Work

On Monday 14th August Room 2 shared some of last term's art work in a school Values Assembly.
Here's what we did:

Last term we got our inspiration for painting for the famous Claude Monet.

He is an impressionist, which means his paintings are made with dabbing brush strokes.

He has some very famous paintings like landscapes and lily-ponds.

Here are some examples of our own impressionist paintings:

How do Maori Celebrate Matariki? By Anne

              How do Maori celebrate Matariki?

Matariki is the Maori New Year Maori.

The stars of Matariki were formed around 100 million years ago. That’s only 1/5th the age of our sun.

During Matariki, people spend time with whanau and have one big feast. The whanau might talk about Matariki or sing one or more Maori songs.

The Maori might go fishing and eat lots of seafoods like mussels and maybe kumara and a BBQ.

When it’s Matariki Maori people make art and crafts like drawing, Maori tattoo patterns, or craft some colourful kites. They can weave flax into stars or make poi.

Matariki is a special time for the whanau to spend time together.

To MOTAT By Anne

MOTAT

On Tuesday 30th of May Room 2 went to MOTAT so we could learn more about Fantastic Flight. I was very excited to go to MOTAT to learn more . We arrived at MOTAT on a bus. When we arrived the teacher at MOTAT was talking about the aerofoil on the plane and how they can fly. Then was the part I liked, the experiments. The first experiment my group did was the fan thing. My group was trying their best to create lift and weight. I created one but it shot up and fell to the ground. Then room 2 went out to look at the planes. There were too many planes, I didn’t know which one to start with. My group started at the plane that had a bomb under it. My teacher asked a question, ‘’Why was the top of the plane green and the bottom black?’’ I said the top of the plane is green so it can be camouflage to green like grass or trees. But I don’t know why was the bottom black. Room 2 got their bags from the cage. We walked to the tram stop and we kind off waited for a long time. Finally the tram came and room 2 went inside, it was a little noisy because of the wheels and it looked old.

It was a nice day to go to MOTAT and learn more.

How Does It Work-A Stapler By Anne

             How Does It Work-A Stapler

The word stapler is a Noun. It can staple two or more papers together. If I want to do that, I have to put the staples inside the stapler first. I put the paper between the stapler and push the top of the stapler really hard and the paper will be stapled together.

My Cousin's Birthday By Anne

My Cousin's Birthday
In the first week of the holiday my mum, my brother and my dad got dressed and hoped in the car we were on our way to my cousin's house because it was his birthday. My auntie had invited us to come. When we were there, his house was full of food. I didn’t eat anything because I ate at home. Most of my cousins are boys and they outside in the cold night. When I went outside it was freezing. I walked back inside to get my jacket. I went back outside and the boys were playing touch with the ball but one team cheated. My mum called us to sing happy birthday to my cousin. After we finished singing happy birthday we ate the cake. On the cake there were two red birds and three blue flowers. Then it was home time so  we all went home.

The Mangere Market By Anne

The Mangere Market

The Mangere market was full with magnificent and colour full fruit and vegetable’s. The bananas don’t look like normal bananas they look like magical bight bananas. The potatoes look as tan as a humans’ skin. I think the market smells like the fresh vegetable and fruit but sometimes when I went pass the people their under arm smells stinky. The cauliflower look as green as a salad. I might hear some cars rushing to work and people chatting.
