Why We Should Be Allowed To Eat Fast Food - By Ikos

In my opinion we should be allowed to eat fast food and choose whatever we want to eat as long as we don’t eat too much fast.

We should be able to eat fast food because some fast foods are good for you like Subway and Sushi restaurants. Fast food means you don’t have to cook and there are lots of fast food places so it would take less time to find one and therefore, drive to one then to drive to Pak’n'Save or Countdown. As an example, what if you were fasting from lollies and your parents wanted to buy you a treat? What would your treat be? Fast food! If you don’t like vegetables, there are other choices like Subway or Sushi restaurants, they have vegetables in them, a good taste, and they are fast food!

In my opinion everyone should be allowed to eat what they want to eat.

Awesome Impresionist Art Work

On Monday 14th August Room 2 shared some of last term's art work in a school Values Assembly.
Here's what we did:

Last term we got our inspiration for painting for the famous Claude Monet.

He is an impressionist, which means his paintings are made with dabbing brush strokes.

He has some very famous paintings like landscapes and lily-ponds.

Here are some examples of our own impressionist paintings:

The Police Visit By Ikos

Today, Room 2 and the rest of the Senior School went to the hall to see Constable Pricilla who talked to us about our behavior and how it can impact how we act when we are older.

She said that she once had a friend who was a bad boy when she was a girl. Later in her life when she was a police officer, she saw him getting arrested. This shows that if you behave well when you grow up you'll have a good life.

She also talked to us about bullying and how we shouldn't bully each other.

Despicable Spider man-by Ikos

My awesome Holidays!
In the holidays I went to the movies three times!

I went to watch Despicable Me 3 twice AND watched Spiderman: Homecoming!

The first time I watched Despicable Me 3 I watched it with this morning, afternoon and holiday programme called S.K.I.D.S. Skids stands for Safe Kids In Daily Supervision. My favourite part of Despicable Me 3 was when the main villain called Bal Bazar Brat made a giant robot of himself as a kid. The second time I watched I went with lots and lots of friends and family.

After we watched Despicable Me 3 the second time we went to McDonald’s. Me and my friends all got an ice cream with a flake in it. We played on the playground for quite a few hours.

My favourite part of Spiderman: Homecoming was when Peter Parker/Spiderman was climbing on a roof and his friend saw him and said, “you’re the Spiderman…from YouTube?!” And dropped his Lego Death Star he had been working on for so long and he had to restart building it.

My holidays were the BEST! I wish they would never end.

How do Maori celebrate Matariki? -By Ikos

How do the Maori celebrate Matariki?

Matariki is a special tradition. It’s the Maori New Year when the stars of Matariki come out. They believe the brighter the stars are, the more the crops will grow.

People believe that the Sky father Ragninui was so angry when he was separated from the Earth mother Papatuanuku that he threw bits of his two eyes into the heavens. These bits became the stars of Matariki. Of course, this is just one of the Matariki myths.

There are lots of things to do during Matariki. But the main thing people do, is spend time with whanau (family.) People usually have some quality family time having a nice big feast. To have even more family time the night before the feast people usually invite all of their family to have a family reunion.

During Matariki people usually have a celebration including lots of dancing and singing. (including the kids.) Celebrations include using Poi’s and big manly Haka. To celebrate Matariki people also go out on  the streets at night playing music and dancing to the rhythm.

Air Resistance Investigation - by Ikos

On Earth, as objects fall they are slowed down by the ‘push’ of the air; we call this Air Resistance. The more air that is ‘trapped’ beneath a falling object, the more that air ‘pushes’ up and slows the falling object.

Aim:
To observe the effect of that air resistance has on falling objects

Method:

What do you need?

  • 2x pieces of paper
What you should do?
  1. Make a prediction on which piece of paper will hit the ground first
  2. Scrunch one piece of paper into a ball
  3. Hold both pieces of paper at the same height
  4. On the count of three both pieces at the same time
  5. Observe the order that they hit the ground
  6. Repeat at least three times to ensure the test is fair
  7. Record your observations

Silverdale Adventure by Ikos

                                                              The holidays,
In the holidays, I went to Silverdale Adventure Park with the whole entire skids site to play around.
We went into a small building made to look like a U.F.O.
Inside of it there were countless seats, I sat on one. A few seconds later
A big screen in front of me lit up. It had a railway track. The U.F.O started to shake
And I felt like I was in a cart riding down the track. After four minutes (Not exactly four minutes)
The shaking stopped and a door was mysteriously opened. I walked outside, “that was fun.”
I say feeling the breeze. After that I bought myself two ice blocks and a bottle of Sprite.

Once I was finished, I got to play on a HUUUUUUGE slide. It took about five minutes to get up there when I was walking and two minutes when I was running. It took about forty seconds to slide down it since I was trying to slide down it fast. At the end of it there was a huge pit with water in it. After about five slides I got my towel and went to a wooden table where some of my friends were. We went to get dressed and I got another ice block to eat. Once I ate that I went back to the Skids site.

The Magere market by Ikos

The Mangere market has a load of delightful fruit and vegetables. Music was echoing around the markets. There was lots of chattering in lots of places in the markets. The smell of kebabs danced in peoples’ noses. Dull price signs hung around on huge crates. Little and big fruit and vegetables wait to be bought. In the distance cars screech trying to find a place to park. Oddly shaped potatoes were all packed up in plastic bags. The road felt very smooth while hundreds of people stepped on it.
Hundreds of crates were on the ground. Lots of people were either selling things or buying things.

Berserker by Ikos

The Berserker species are experimental giraffes that live nowhere.
They are a fairly large species that are at least as big as an Oliphant.
They can shoot lasers from their eyes; breathe fire and other amazing things.
The species are just males but somehow still get kids.
Berserkers smell like nothing,
It can give out a scent when it’s lost though.
No one has ever felt a berserker’s skin sadly.
The berserker likes to eat meat,
But not normal meat,
The berserker has to eat cooked human liver!
The berserker takes a rest then continues to hunt.
For some reason the Berserker has a Repeater grown onto its back.
What’s special about the Berserker is that when it rests in the shadows it turns invisible.
It’s good for hunting in the forest.
