Matariki by Jazzlyn

Matariki

Matariki is a Maori tradition. Matariki is the Maori new year. Matariki is a big celebration for Maori.

They do a little waiata and cook some delicious food like mussels, bbq, buttered kumara, or they might do a big feast.

During Matariki people spend time with whanau. People might do weaving and a haka or they might make kites.

Matariki is a special celebration and is also known as the Maori new year celebration. The stars of Matariki were formed about a 100 million years ago. That's only 1/50th the age of our sun.

Matariki is the Maori new year. People love celebrating Matariki because they all come together to celebrate family time.

MOTAT By Jazzlyn

On Tuesday, Room 2 went to MOTAT to learn about flight. First we got on the bus to go to MOTAT. Then we got off and went inside to eat our lunch. I was so excited. After that we went to see the planes. They were so massive and humongous.

Next we went to the place where we ate our lunch. Mr Jackson took us to the tram and when we arrived we were at MOTAT 2. First we went to eat our snacks. After that we went to the doll house and the church. Next we went to the telephone place. There were lots of them and one phone could connect to the other phone. But it was time to go back to school, so we went to the tram and from the tram we went to the bus.

It was a wonderful day at MOTAT. That was the best trip I ever went on.

How does it work - A Stapler By Jazzlyn

How does it work - A Stapler
A Stapler works with staples. Staples are a kind of bendy metal  that you can use to staple two papers with a Stapler. You can even take the staples out of the paper. The word stapler is a noun.

Year 4 High Flier Award

On Friday the 26th of May 2017, Jazzlyn from Room 2 received the Year 4 High Flier Award.

Her award reads:
Jazzlyn is somewhat of a perfectionist, setting high personal standards for herself and accepting nothing less than the best. She is kind, considerate and shows the Jean Batten Values every day. She can be seen around the classroom managing herself or helping her peers in a respectful manner. She is pleasure to teach, a good friend, and a true high flier.

Well done Jazzlyn!

Chipmunks by Jazzlyn

On the holidays me and my family went to chipmunks with my cousin sister. We were going in the slide and when we went down a girl kept on following me so I went on the gigantic park. I kept on going up and up until I ended up in a dead end. The girl found me so I went into the slide. I thought that it would be slow but it went so fast, that I started screaming so loud. I was so glad that it was over. Then I said I never ever go on that slide ever again.

The Mangere Market by Jazzlyn

The Mangere market is full with people. The yummy shiny yellow bananas and the smelly yucky onions. Island music is booming through the market. The Smell of hot burning kebabs and the hot chips fill the air. Noisy people chatter in their language.

Double blade fly

It is a fast flying monster that can’t even scratch.
It can walk as slow as a snail and it even has spikes that can stick on walls. The tail wiggles when there is danger but never has wiggled it can see backwards and  forwards because it has to be ready when there is danger . The double blade can smell from far far away and lives in a house that a human lives in .
