Year 5 High Flier Award

On Friday the 4th of August 2017, Joshua from Room 2 received the Year 5 High Flier Award.

His award reads:

Joshua shows all the values expected of a Jean Batten student and more! He takes responsibility for his own learning, always looking for ways to challenge himself. He willingly helps others and regularly puts others needs before his own. He has shown tremendous leadership this year, taking on a very important responsibility which sometimes sees him working right to end of the school day. He is an absolute pleasure to teach, a dedicated student, and a true high flier.

My Best Trip to Rotorua by Ihaiah

My best trip to Rotorua

In the first Saturday of the holidays I went Rotorua so I could play with my cousins. I went down with my dad and brother.

We went down in my dad’s car. It was a long drive. On the way down I saw lots of cars. I was feeling happy because I was going to Rotorua.

When I got to Rotorua I played games like tag. We played hide and seek. For the games I had to do a lot of running and walking. I was thinking “this is fun”.

Later we went to a restaurant for dinner. I had fish and chips. It smelt yum and it tasted delicious. It was so yum that I was full.

The next day we went to see the steam pipes. I could see the hot water and the steam coming out. It smelt like rotten eggs.

Finally it was time to go home. I hope I go back to Rotorua again.

On Saturday I went to Kellytartons with my family. We saw lots of amazing sea creatures

like Sharks, Clownfish, Jhon Dory, Cray fish, Tuna, Eels, Crabs, Sea cucumber and coral.

I got to play with the robot Shark. You can control the Shark by pressing the different coloured buttons to make the SHFSSsShark do different things like make him chomp and blink.  I went to the new corner. I drew jacksepticeye and markiplier.

Last of all we went to the café where I ate lots of different food like pie and cake.

It was the best day of my life.  

Despicable Me 3 by Joshua

My Movie Holiday

On Saturday in the first week of the holidays we went to the movies to watch Despicable Me 3. 

When I got inside I saw an arcade by the escalator and a lot of people lining up because it was the school holidays and it was busy. We went to the counter to buy popcorn, tickets and drinks. Then My Aunty gave me the bucket of popcorn and drinks.  The popcorn was like little hot muffins that came out of the burning hot oven and the drinks felt like freezing ice. 

After that we went to our seats at the back row to watch Despicable Me 3. My favourite part of the movie when they were having a dance fight because it was funny. 

I felt tired from the movie but I was thankful for my Aunty taking me to watch Despicable Me 3.

My School Holidays By Koreta

My school holidays

In the school holidays I went rock climbing. I saw people climbing so high up the climbing wall it looked scary! 

When you put on your belt it is hard to make the belt tight. I was lucky because a man helped me. When I climbed all the way to the top and I looked down. It looked scary. 

When I went into the Adventure Land, I got lost in the tunnels. I was looking for holes to get through, but I couldn’t see anything because it was dark. 

Rock climbing is a fun thing to do in the school holidays. Make sure you don’t get lost like I did.

Despicable Me 3 By Mattia

Despicable Me 3

I was excited because I was going to the Maunkau Movies to watch Despicable Me 3.

First we got ready then we hopped in the car. When we got there I saw a lot of people there and people talking in different languages. My Aunty went to buy our drinks. I had a raspberry drink.When I was drinking my drink my eyes were watery because the drink was too cold. The popcorn was buttery and warm. The movie was very funny because Gur was stuck in Bubble Gum. 

After the movie we went home and I though the movie was funny. I said to my aunty, ‘Thank-you for taking me there." Despicable Me 3 wasn’t my favourite movie but it was the funniest movie and I can’t wait for the next school holiday and watch a new movie.

My Holidays

In the Holidays I went to the movies to watch War Of The Planet Of the Apes. I was really excited to see the movie because of all the apes. 

During the movie I ate my popcorn and my M and M’s. My popcorn was warm and soft. My M and M’s were crunchy. My favorite part of the movie was when the apes had a fight that was really cool. 

After the movie I went to MC Donald’s and I had a Double Quarter Pounder. The Quarter Pounder had really steamy buns. 

Then we drove back home. I was sad because I knew it was going to be a boring ride back. When we got home I felt exhausted so I had a beauty sleep. 

My favorite part of my holidays was to go to the movies to watch War Of The Planet Of The Apes because it was funny. I can’t wait until the next school holidays come so I can watch another movie.
