Plants Vs Zombies

Its dawn, Zombies rise from the grave and start to drag their feet to crazy Dave’s house, well crazy Dave starts to panic. Then even worse Super brainz approaches! And there’s a huge wave of zombies! Suddenly plants start to hop out of the ground and they begin to attack the zombie’s .plants start to vanquish zombies to save crazy Dave after a short battle zombies quit. They tell their boss to do something “I’ve been waiting for this moment “said Zomboss, I just finished my project THE ZOMBOT! Zombot looks like a humongous zombie robot with a spikey collar .Now the plants will beg for their life! HAHAHAH! Meanwhile .Cabbages were put on the roof .Peashooter was planted in the ground .Suddenly there was a huge shadow Zomboss was sitting inside zombot .looks like  he’s coming said cabbage, then Zomboss started to put zombies everywhere .on the roof, in the backyard and the front yard .The plants started to attack .after all that fighting, zomboss lowered his head and started to open its mouth .out came an Icey ball .It squashed plants .Then Cherry bomb exploded in front of zombot”s head the plants are silent then they celebrated! The end.

First in the holiday my family went to minigolf 'lost in time ' near Aoetea square ,there was 4 stages .world 1 ,gold mine ,forest of unknown and stone age .Our challenge was to hit the less to get it in the hole ,Our mum won next we went to jump it was so fun Peyton (our little brother was jumping then he landed his face luckily he didn't cry otherwise we would be at home .I was very grateful ! Lastly when we got home i played on mt tablet .i played jet pack joyride  ,its about  a man who stole a  machine gun jet pack ,i obtained 180 coins in a game ! i brought the bubble jet pack and then i played more games!

Trip to Rotorua By Alyana

Trip to Rotorua!

On Friday me my church and some other church’s went to Rotorua for our church camp. We would play games and church activities. We would have to sleep in our tents. At night our tent was wet so we got shifted to another tent. The next morning we had to take our bags, sleeping bags, pillows and blanket to the next tent that we slept in. The tent that we slept in was water proof so no rain goes in our tent. We had Coco rice for breakfast and hot and spicy curry for dinner. I miss camp because I liked seeing all the other lovely church members. I didn’t like driving to Rotorua and driving back to Auckland. It took me and my family 3 hours to get Rotorua. This camp site is a big camp site so you can get lost easily. It is very far from Auckland. It took a long way back but we made it home safely. When we got home we had to unpack It was 7pm When we got home so we quickly unpacked and went to bed. By Alyana

My Glow In the dark holiday by Joshua

In The holidays me and my sister made glow in the dark t-shirts at my Nana's house. First me and mum went to spotlight to get glow in the dark pens and blank white t-shirts. Then we went to pay for our shopping. After that we went to my Nana's house to make t-shirts.First we had to plan what we were going to draw on our t-shirts. After planning my sister said she is going to do the ghostbusters logo and I said I was going to do "Michael Jackson". But before we could go to do our t-shirts, our Aunty came to help us. Then she asked which picture to do and I showed her the picture on the Ipad then she started to draw the picture.When we all finished our t-shirts, we had to wait for 4 hours to dry.
When It was 7:00pm it finished drying. When it was dark we tried our t-shirts on it really worked I was surprised that it glowed in the dark.

My Holidays By Makoe

In the holidays I went to my cousins birthday at Inflatable World. When me and my family got there I went straight to my cousin, gave him his birthday card and said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY". 

After that I went and played on the bouncy slides and on all the bouncy places. Then the birthday started. All of us went up stairs to celebrate my cousin "Xanders" birthday. 

When I got up-stairs I saw heaps of yummy food like:sausage rolls, cupcakes, fruit kebabs, lasagna, chicken, strawberry's with chocolate icing and heaps of other yummy food.

 After we ate all that yummy food we went down stairs to play again. I played soccer with my cousin. At last the tiring game of soccer had come to an end then I went back on the slides.We finally went home. I was so happy I got to go to my cousins birthday because it was cool and it was a lot of fun!

On Monday, Jean Batten School had an assembly in the hall. Room 2 shared our art board that  was made by my friend Mattia and Mr Jackson. When I saw Mattia walk up stage two boy came along to with Mattia. Their names were Ihaiah and Fuapau. There had to hold the art board while Mattia was reading the paper in front of the whole school. When I saw Mattia walk on to stage she didn’t look scared when she was reading it. 
My favorite Art board was room 1.

Tongan Fashion Show by Akshath

On Tuesday we went to the Tongan Fashion Show. It was fun. We got to watch some performers in the show. There was a boy named Fuapau and he’s in Room 2. (I’m in Room 2 as well.) He’s a year 5 and I’m a year 4.

Fuapau was in the Fashion Show because he’s a Tongan. I was excited to see a boy in the Fashion Show from Room 2. He was great. He was a little bit nervous but when he came up to the stage everyone was cheering for him. He was still nervous when people were cheering for him.

Today at assembly some classes have shared their art board. Some of the classes had to come up on stage and tell JBS what they had been doing to draw and color in their art board. All of the art boards were all so amazing. 

My favourite art board was Room 1's art board. It was my favorite art board because it had cool patters and pretty flowers. I also liked room 22's art board. I liked how they used their hands to make the petals on the flowers. 

I think that Mattia did a great job presenting our art board on stage. She was really brave. I also think that Mr Jackson and Mattia did a good job working on our art board. Mr Jackson and Mattia worked really hard on our art board I think that they should be getting all the credit.

Over the last 4 weeks me and Mr Jackson had to do an art board. We practiced on paper with stencils  and  spray paint.We had two kiwis and some ferns.When we had the board we started with kiwis.We traced them and then we put brown stain on the kiwis.

The next day we had to put black for our background.We got our stencils for the kiwi.When we put on the stencils for the kiwis  and sprayed the black on the board the kiwi was shaped to the left and it looked amazing. 

The next day we put on the ferns.We put them in different areas so some can be in the front and some in the back of the kiwi.We waited for the ferns to dry.

When it had  dried, we put on the words.The words were Kia Kaha it means "be strong".It is used by the New Zealand police against bullying in schools.

On Monday we presented the art board.When we presented it I was proud of my self because it was scary being up there but I was proud of me and Mr Jackson's hard work.

We Should Eat Fast Food

We should eat fast food because some are healthy and gives people a choice. 

Fast food is good because you don’t have to cook it, like at KFC and stuff. If you cook it at home you will waste your time and wont have enough time to do your chores. 

It’s also not expensive. The wicked lunch is not expensive at KFC. It’s delicious. That’s why people buy it. It’s got lettuce in burgers and that’s what makes it healthy. We should eat fast food because it’s delicious and healthy. McDonalds and KFC are so delicious. 

We should eat fast food because it can be healthy and delicious for you. I eat KFC every Saturday.

We should not eat fast food

We should not eat fast food because it is not healthy for our bodies. It has heaps of fat and sugar. Fast food can lead us to cancer and diabetes. If you eat too much fast food it can make you sick by eating and drinking heaps of sour sugar. Fast food doesn’t have long lasting energy because of all those unhealthy ingredients. Ingredients such as some delicious chewy lettuce, onion and tomatoes foods that give us that long lasting energy. Fast food can make you have diseases if you eat heaps of salty fries & burgers. 

Fast food is really expensive for example if you want a meal. If you buy fast food for many months or weeks you might end up having no money. If we spend all our money on fast food we won’t be able to buy clothes, shoes, products and we also won’t be able to pay the bills. 

Fast food isn’t a fabulous choice. It is not good for our bodies.

You shouldn’t eat fast food because it has calories, fat and too many carbs also if you want to play sports you would get stitches while dribbling, swimming or trying to get a touchdown. You might also drop the ball and you can’t shoot the ball in because you can’t use your mussels to score in basketball because your weak and you might get kicked off the team for not giving anything a go. Or not giving any effort and you might get a hiding for wasting all your parents’ money for registering and food. So give everything a go if you’re comfortable also you might damage your body parts in football or any physical sports like rugby. Also you not pass the ball or get a try that’s why we should not eat fast food because it’s not healthy for our body and sports players.

Why We Should Be Allowed To Eat Fast Food - By Ikos

In my opinion we should be allowed to eat fast food and choose whatever we want to eat as long as we don’t eat too much fast.

We should be able to eat fast food because some fast foods are good for you like Subway and Sushi restaurants. Fast food means you don’t have to cook and there are lots of fast food places so it would take less time to find one and therefore, drive to one then to drive to Pak’n'Save or Countdown. As an example, what if you were fasting from lollies and your parents wanted to buy you a treat? What would your treat be? Fast food! If you don’t like vegetables, there are other choices like Subway or Sushi restaurants, they have vegetables in them, a good taste, and they are fast food!

In my opinion everyone should be allowed to eat what they want to eat.

I believe that we should not eat fast food. Fast food is not healthy and not good for us because it has to much sugar, salt and fat. Most Fast Foods are high in calories and in fact that can lead to diseases because fast food has too much salt, sugar and fat. 

If you go to the McDonalds and you wanted a cheeseburger, your mum goes to order it and gets her money and it cost $10.00 and she only has $5.00, and you know fast food cost too much money. 

Once I was eating a burger my face turned RED, when I looked down there was onions and I am ALLERGIC to all kinds of onions! Fast food can give you the food you’re allergic to and you won’t know! 

We should not eat fast food because it is not healthy.

I think we should have fast food because it’s nice.

The first reason is it’s cheap and you don’t have to spend a lot of money. For example at BK we can get a stunner meal for $5. You get chips, burger, sundae and coke.  I can’t make that at home.

Another reason why we should have fast food is because it’s fast. It only takes 4 minutes and at home it would take 11 minutes. That’s why it called fast food.

A third reason is someone else makes it for you. You don’t have to make it and you have more time, At BK you only have to tell them what you want and you have to buy it and you can go.

Lastly fast food is yummy. There is lots of nice food. At BK there is a menu with lots of food.

Because fast food is yummy, someone else makes it, and it is cheap, I think we should have fast food.

Awesome Impresionist Art Work

On Monday 14th August Room 2 shared some of last term's art work in a school Values Assembly.

He is an impressionist, which means his paintings are made with dabbing brush strokes.

Buddy Time!

This week for Buddy Time Room 2 has been helping their Room 6 buddies with their fractions! Here are some photos of the boys doing some awesome work together. The girls are lucky and get to escape to Room 6 for 30 minutes!

The Police Visit By Ikos

Today, Room 2 and the rest of the Senior School went to the hall to see Constable Pricilla who talked to us about our behavior and how it can impact how we act when we are older. 

She said that she once had a friend who was a bad boy when she was a girl. Later in her life when she was a police officer, she saw him getting arrested. This shows that if you behave well when you grow up you'll have a good life. 

She also talked to us about bullying and how we shouldn't bully each other.

Class Merit Award

Ihaiah received a Class Merit Award in this morning's assembly. The award was for his awesome effort and attitude during writing.

Year 5 High Flier Award

On Friday the 4th of August 2017, Joshua from Room 2 received the Year 5 High Flier Award.

His award reads:

Joshua shows all the values expected of a Jean Batten student and more! He takes responsibility for his own learning, always looking for ways to challenge himself. He willingly helps others and regularly puts others needs before his own. He has shown tremendous leadership this year, taking on a very important responsibility which sometimes sees him working right to end of the school day. He is an absolute pleasure to teach, a dedicated student, and a true high flier.

My Best Trip to Rotorua by Ihaiah

My best trip to Rotorua

In the first Saturday of the holidays I went Rotorua so I could play with my cousins. I went down with my dad and brother.

We went down in my dad’s car. It was a long drive. On the way down I saw lots of cars. I was feeling happy because I was going to Rotorua.

When I got to Rotorua I played games like tag. We played hide and seek. For the games I had to do a lot of running and walking. I was thinking “this is fun”.

Later we went to a restaurant for dinner. I had fish and chips. It smelt yum and it tasted delicious. It was so yum that I was full.

The next day we went to see the steam pipes. I could see the hot water and the steam coming out. It smelt like rotten eggs.

Finally it was time to go home. I hope I go back to Rotorua again.

On Saturday I went to Kellytartons with my family. We saw lots of amazing sea creatures

like Sharks, Clownfish, Jhon Dory, Cray fish, Tuna, Eels, Crabs, Sea cucumber and coral.

I got to play with the robot Shark. You can control the Shark by pressing the different coloured buttons to make the SHFSSsShark do different things like make him chomp and blink.  I went to the new corner. I drew jacksepticeye and markiplier.

Last of all we went to the café where I ate lots of different food like pie and cake.

It was the best day of my life.

My Movie Holiday

On Saturday in the first week of the holidays we went to the movies to watch Despicable Me 3. 

When I got inside I saw an arcade by the escalator and a lot of people lining up because it was the school holidays and it was busy. We went to the counter to buy popcorn, tickets and drinks. Then My Aunty gave me the bucket of popcorn and drinks.  The popcorn was like little hot muffins that came out of the burning hot oven and the drinks felt like freezing ice. 

After that we went to our seats at the back row to watch Despicable Me 3. My favourite part of the movie when they were having a dance fight because it was funny. 

I felt tired from the movie but I was thankful for my Aunty taking me to watch Despicable Me 3.

My School Holidays By Koreta

My school holidays

In the school holidays I went rock climbing. I saw people climbing so high up the climbing wall it looked scary! 

When you put on your belt it is hard to make the belt tight. I was lucky because a man helped me. When I climbed all the way to the top and I looked down. It looked scary. 

When I went into the Adventure Land, I got lost in the tunnels. I was looking for holes to get through, but I couldn’t see anything because it was dark. 

Rock climbing is a fun thing to do in the school holidays. Make sure you don’t get lost like I did.

Despicable Me 3 By Mattia

I was excited because I was going to the Maunkau Movies to watch Despicable Me 3.

First we got ready then we hopped in the car. When we got there I saw a lot of people there and people talking in different languages. My Aunty went to buy our drinks. I had a raspberry drink.When I was drinking my drink my eyes were watery because the drink was too cold. The popcorn was buttery and warm. The movie was very funny because Gur was stuck in Bubble Gum. 

After the movie we went home and I though the movie was funny. I said to my aunty, ‘Thank-you for taking me there." Despicable Me 3 wasn’t my favourite movie but it was the funniest movie and I can’t wait for the next school holiday and watch a new movie.

My Holidays

In the Holidays I went to the movies to watch War Of The Planet Of the Apes. I was really excited to see the movie because of all the apes. 

During the movie I ate my popcorn and my M and M’s. My popcorn was warm and soft. My M and M’s were crunchy. My favorite part of the movie was when the apes had a fight that was really cool. 

After the movie I went to MC Donald’s and I had a Double Quarter Pounder. The Quarter Pounder had really steamy buns. 

Then we drove back home. I was sad because I knew it was going to be a boring ride back. When we got home I felt exhausted so I had a beauty sleep. 

My favorite part of my holidays was to go to the movies to watch War Of The Planet Of The Apes because it was funny. I can’t wait until the next school holidays come so I can watch another movie.

Despicable Spider man-by Ikos

My awesome Holidays!

In the holidays I went to the movies three times!

I went to watch Despicable Me 3 twice AND watched Spiderman: Homecoming!

The first time I watched Despicable Me 3 I watched it with this morning, afternoon and holiday programme called S.K.I.D.S. Skids stands for Safe Kids In Daily Supervision. My favourite part of Despicable Me 3 was when the main villain called Bal Bazar Brat made a giant robot of himself as a kid. The second time I watched I went with lots and lots of friends and family. 

After we watched Despicable Me 3 the second time we went to McDonald’s. Me and my friends all got an ice cream with a flake in it. We played on the playground for quite a few hours. 

My favourite part of Spiderman: Homecoming was when Peter Parker/Spiderman was climbing on a roof and his friend saw him and said, “you’re the Spiderman…from YouTube?!” And dropped his Lego Death Star he had been working on for so long and he had to restart building it. 

My holidays were the BEST! I wish they would never end.

War for the Planet of the Apes by Liana

  War for the Planet of the Apes.

One cloudy afternoon in the holidays my Cousin, my Sister, my friend, me, my Uncle and Aunty went to the movies. We were going to watch Spider- man but the movie was booked out. I was so disappointed but we still watched War for the planet of the Apes. 

We patiently waited for our tickets. Soon everyone left the line so we gave our ticket to the lady and headed into the movie. I touched the hard bill boards that were hanging on the wall. While we were walking we found the door to our movie so we entered in. We went down to the front row. When we found our seats we sat down and waited for the ads to present the movie. I could smell the buttery popcorn. I was annoyed because someone was kicking my seat. 

After 2 hours we left and clapped. When the lights turned on we sat up because the movie was finished. We got out of the movie door and went downstairs to the arcade. We played all sorts of games like throwing some balls in the hoop to get more tickets. We also played Pac-man. If you beat the game you get 1500 tickets. Later we went to see how much tickets we had. We had 43 tickets. 

We left the movies and hopped in the car and we drove to McDonald’s. We all had a Triple cheese burger and a frozen blueberry Fanta. 

Going to the movies and McDonalds with my family was my favourite part of the holidays.
